Carbis Bay Area
Questions raised over why housing needs document was ignored in development battle
Campaigners fighting a large development in Carbis Bay have managed to get a planning application for 41 affordable homes turned down.
Residents have questioned why planning officers recommended the development when there is a report commissioned by Cornwall Council in 2008 that there was no need for further development in the Carbis Bay catchment area.
Campaigners also state that there is already a surplus of recently developed affordable homes in the area which are lying empty and are angry that details of the report had to be highlighted by local residents, and not provided to elected members by the council officers and question why this relevant report, commissioned by Cornwall Council and paid for by the residents of Cornwall, was ignored by them.
BY TA – Why indeed, makes you wonder why planners are intent on getting virtually any developers plans approved irrespective of any local consideration.
Why would planners withhold information which may lead to a refusal of planning permission to a developer? We suspect that conspiracy theorists could have a field day with this one. Could be of course that there is no hidden agenda and they are just incompetent. Your views would make interesting reading.
