Illogan & Park Bottom

3. In a trawl through the Camborn Redruth Hayle West Briton this week (25th March) It was noted that there are just over 100 Job adverts. A dozen or so are agency adverts which could be related to anywhere in Cornwall, and for the CPRI area where mass building of new homes are being progressed, where the far sighted planners insist that 11,200 more can be built how many job adverts are there, FOUR

We suggest that each new house build should carry a health warning - NO JOBS AVAILABLE !

In another report the WB has revealed  the Port folio holder for housings’ secret list of where social housing will be built. Having borrowed £151M in your name he has decided that this can be used for another 741 new houses spread around the Duchy including CPRI. There is also a confidential list, suprise suprise, also earmarked for new social housing, again spread around the Duchy and again including more for CPRI. Kaczmarek says that no ‘affordable’ houses will be built on playing fields !  Well that’s OK then - lets just concrete over the other greenfield spaces and the agricultural land ! Idiotic !

In yet another report, Campbell Robb, the CEO of Shelter, the homeless and housing charity, says that the Duchy is only providing 26% of the (here we go again) ‘Affordable’ houses required and the total required is 18,900 - Where does he get his figures from?? - Kaczmarek has stated, seemingly depending on what time of the day it is, that the number is actually 5,000 or could be 6,ooo or maybe 8,000 - don’t these people talk to each other, or is there deliberate misinformation coming from one or the other. We suggest that somebody here makes an attempt at joined up thinking and tells us, the people who are going to be affected by these plans, just how many people are on the waiting list for so called ‘affordable’ houses and while they are at it, what the definition if this ridiculous, meaningless word when used in this context.

Another report relates to the parish plan being put together at Lanner. The residents had better hope that Kaczmakek doesnt have a hand in it or there will be 2,000 new homes built there. Or probably not, as he is the Cornwall Councillor who lives in the area. Just how many ‘affordable’ social houses are going to be built there we wonder?? or is it just by chance that Lanner doesn’t feature in any of his lists earmarked for more building ??

Hers another - Heartlands - Some months ago there was a laughable public consultation on the project where, presumably, a number of comments were made by the public. The WB reports that the plans have now changed  and there has been another public consultation. Hands up all those who knew about it ! - Mike Cotton the Big Lottery Fund representative has said that it ‘great’ to see that Heartlands is keeping local people at the heart of the project. We will be writing to him to tell him that is not the case. Scott James, the Heartlands Program Director, said the consultation event was really positive and it was ‘great’ to recieve comments on the revised plans. We will be writing to him to to ask just how many local residents attended and where it was publicised. Councillor Caroline Rule says that its really important that members of the local community feel they have a voice about developments in  the area and so consultation events such as these are really positive. What utter nonsensical rubbish. Hands up all those who think that they are affecting the lunacy being forced on local residents by these so called positive public consultations. We suggest that these people get back to planet Earth. What is really happening is that we are being told what developments we are going to get, and we are being asked what colour we want the door. WAKE UP  - get out into the community and talk to real people.

2. Illogan – Planning application for a house to be built on a green space, used as a play area for children for many years, was recommended for rejection by the local parish council planning committee, but overruled by Cornwall County councillors.

2. Tolvaddon               12,000sqm Industrial space
     Illogan                             75 homes
    Park Bottom            2,350 homes

Summary- These figures were extracted from the Area Action Plan (AAP) Feb 2009. The above figures are as recorded on page 20 of the report and total 2,350. However, the map on page 8 of the same report appears to include another 75 in Illogan making a total of 2,425 in total. Perhaps the planners would like to enlighten us.
The population estimated in Park Bottom in 2000 was 1,700 and is now estimated to be in the region of 2,200. 2,425 homes could increase the population by 6,062 (based on 2.5 people per home) which equates to a staggering increase of 275%

We assume that the Government is in a bit of a panic over houses because of a failed policy over the last 12 years of having virtually open borders and now find that lots of new homes are required.

There also seems to be an odious and idiotic mindset pervading some of our so called community leaders at the moment, that if we see an empty space we should build on it. This will continue until the entire Country is covered in concrete unless we, normal residents going about our daily tasks, do something to stop it.

What about the councillors we are going to vote for at the next local election, what are their views on this and what has been their voting history on the subject? We can find out using the freedom of information act.

What about our MPs and the next general election, are we going to vote for a party who wants to perpetuate this process as Beckett has implied, or do we want MPs who will challenge the Government when we, the people, think they have overstepped the mark?

MAKE THE POWER OF DEMOCRACY WORK. - THE COUNCILLORS AND THE MPs WORK FOR US. - GET THEM TO RAISE OUR CONCERNS. - REMEMBER, UNLESS WE TELL THEM, THEY WON’T KNOW.
